,,Tasty'' food in Japan made Chinese style
Some time ago I had the chance to go to a nice Chinese restaurant here in Japan located near Ikebukuro. After being surprised how huge the menu was (at least 40 double sided pages full with text) and the trouble with actually being able to decide something from that vast input I found these ,,delicious'' and amusing items.
Freshly fried silkworm larvae

Delicious fried scorpion on rice.
I don't know if you would have enjoyed that but I stuck to the ,,normal'' stuff. ^^

Urgs *tries not to think about it*, are those guys eating everything? ... is that scorpion stuff like those fugu stuff in japan? Are those... guys... crazy? I mean the poison of a scorpion can easily kill you, even if it's fried and dead, or? Okay, unless you are a cat (i've seen an article somewhere of how to make sure you never have any scorpions in the house... just buy yourself a cat, they'll easily defeat and eat them...). And silkworm lavae? *runs away screaming*, okay i'm sure i do not like that sort of chinese stuff... you are surely better off sticking with the normal stuff!

Hehe… well I think they take the poison out first – though I’m not sure :)
There was actually much more funny stuff in the menu but the waiter looked a bit unfriendly when I took those pictures.
Fugu is another story which I will post later ;)

Hm... I would not wonder if the poison gets harmless by just cooking it. Many chemicals degenerate by cooking/frying them e.g. vitamins. And the second thing is, that the poison is incorporated orally. It's even possible to incorporate HIV orally without getting AIDS. Because HIV has to enter the blood directly to become effective. => Probably not harmful anymore. But to make sure, I'd just leave the tail or the part which is containing the poison away. ;-)

Thanks for the comment MarS, as usual your in-depth knowledge is very impressive :)

Well, sure the poison is contained in the tail only, but only thinking of eating such a thing... *brr*.
